WHAT TO SEE
Faro de Punta Cabalo
Build in 1852, the Lighthouse of Punta Cabalo that was transformed in a Restaurant, is one of the attractions of the Arousa Island. Build over the rocks it is a wonderful place for sightseeing of the beautiful Ria de Arousa. Come at dusk.
Mirador O Con do Forno
This is the highest point of the Island, from where you can see the full Island. Incredible view… It has a big statue of the Heart of Jesus, known as the saint, build in 1962 by Master Mateo School.
Puerto do Xufre
This small fisherman Harbour is the most important in the Island. In there you can see the boats and their maneuvers to enter/exit the harbor. Because the fish market is placed in here increases its activity. During the day you can see the delivery of all fish and shellfish for auction at the market. Mussels disembarking is also done in this harbour.
Ruta dos Cons
This route extends all over the Arousa Island, allowing us to see the most important and natural sculptures of this place, molded by the strong winds and tides throughout centuries.
Museo da Conserva
Musuem of Preservation of Sea Products. This Museum reproduces the life of the first modern factory of fish transformation: Goday. It goes far back to the year 1879.
Parque Natural de Carreirón
The Carreirón Natural Park is within a special protected area for the birds created by the EU. It is designated as as International Area for Bird Protection and it consists of 1,3km2 of beautiful woods, composed mainly by pine trees located near sandy beaches. It is an excellent place for relaxing and enjoying nature.
Playa O Bao
This beach was awarded with Blue Flag (EU) thanks to its 700m of sand and clean waters. Easy to access as it has a parking place nearby as well as bike trails and sidewalk just besides it.
Playa de Area da Secada
Secada Beach is the other beach awarded with the Blue Flag. It is smaller than O Bao beach, but its 420m of sandy beaches and clean waters close to dunes and woods within the protected area makes it a special attraction in the Arousa Island.
